Coming to Japan to learn, but Then COVID-19 Hit.

I had always wanted to study Japanese, partly because I had been exposed to Japanese movies and literature since childhood. I was particularly fascinated by kanji, as its usage and meanings sometimes differ between Japan and China, which I found intriguing. After working for a while in China, I decided to pursue my desire to study Japanese and came to Japan, enrolling in October 2020. However, shortly after, the COVID-19 pandemic began. Most of the classes went online, and wearing masks became mandatory, making it difficult to interact freely with people. In those challenging times, my teachers frequently offered support via LINE chat, helping me with daily life and studies. Thanks to their support, I was able to adapt to life in Japan without experiencing significant difficulties or anxiety.

Fun classes and new experiences broadened my interests.

Although I was familiar with Japanese culture before coming to Japan, my Japanese language skills were almost nonexistent when I started. However, the lessons were not only easy to understand but also engaging, which made me even more interested in studying Japanese. I particularly enjoyed the lessons where we learned conversational skills in everyday situations. One memorable activity was a role-play where we practiced buying train tickets at a station with the teacher and classmates--it was both fun and unforgettable.
In the specialized practical course I took, I had the opportunity to attend special classes at a vocational school. At first, I didn't have a clear goal beyond learning the language, but after experiencing 3DCG design in the special classes, my range of interests expanded, eventually leading to my current career.

Comprehensive support in vocational school and job hunting

My experience with 3D computer graphics design in the special classes sparked my interest, and after graduating from Tokyo Language Academy in 2022, I enrolled at Tokyo Designer Academy. There, I learned about design techniques and other skills. Currently, I work as a QA engineer ensuring the quality of software products. During my job hunting process, my teachers provided detailed support, such as helping me write my resume and practicing for interviews.
I am now working at my dream company, doing what I love, and enjoying every day. Tokyo Language Academy not only offers Japanese language education but also provides a variety of programs that allow students to experience new things. I feel it is an environment that helps students discover new possibilities they may not have noticed before.
